Also known as killer whales, orcas are the largest members of the dolphin family and are playful, intelligent and social animals. The orcas that are seen in the Pacific Northwest waters are part of the southern resident community, made up of fewer than 80 orcas. These Orcas were put on the endangered species list in 2005.
